The Beaumont Hotel · Website redesign
Three homepage directions
Each concept uses the hotel’s existing copy, menus, offers, reviews and photography, keeps the current logo, and is built to become a fast, accessible WordPress block theme. Open each one on your phone as well as your desktop – and scroll slowly to see the animations.
The designs
-
Design A · Heritage, refined
Abbey
- #f7f3ea
- #2f4a42
- #1f332d
- #d9bd85
Cream, bottle green and brass with Cormorant Garamond. Centred, symmetrical layouts, fine ornamental rules and arched room photography that echo the Victorian building.
- Signature improvement
- An awards & essentials strip straight under the hero (AA four-star, AA Rosette, serving times, EV parking) and room-category cards.
- Scroll animation
- Gentle staggered fade-ups; images reveal with a slow clip; the hero settles in on load.
-
Design B · Modern editorial
Sele Park
- #f4efe6
- #1c1b19
- #a3432a
- #e3cdb0
Warm off-white, charcoal and terracotta with oversized Fraunces headlines. An asymmetric, magazine-style grid with numbered sections, overlapping photography and a cut-out of the façade.
- Signature improvement
- A sticky “Book a room / Book a table / Call” bar that follows the visitor down every page, plus offers laid out as a clear comparison list.
- Scroll animation
- Images wipe in from behind a clip mask, headings slide up, the hero “sun” rises behind the façade.
-
Design C · Warm, moody, restaurant-first
Evening
- #14120f
- #1e1b17
- #d9b779
- #efe8dc
Near-black, candle-gold and stone with Playfair italics. Cinematic full-bleed photography of the bar and food, leading with the restaurant and menus before rooms.
- Signature improvement
- A “Plan your visit” drawer (book a table, book a room, call, email) replaces the separate black booking page, and every menu is one tap away as a card.
- Scroll animation
- Slow cinematic zoom on the hero, gold accents fade in, reviews slide in on a swipeable rail.
What’s improved in all three
- Booking that’s always one tap awayBook a room (Mews) and Book a table (OpenTable) appear in the header and key sections. Buttons are real links, so they still work if a script fails.
- The booking engine loads only when neededToday the Mews engine downloads roughly 1.6 MB on every page view. In the new designs it loads the moment someone clicks “Book”.
- Content is never hidden behind animationsScroll animations only affect what’s below the screen, add no layout shift, and switch off for visitors who prefer reduced motion.
- Images sized for the screenEvery photo is served as AVIF/WebP at several widths. The old library includes originals of up to 11.6 MB.
- Hotel & restaurant schemaAddress, star rating, opening hours and table reservations are marked up for Google, replacing the current “Article/Person” markup on the homepage.
- Practical info up frontServing times, parking (8 spaces, 4 EV chargers, accessible bay), dog policy and tappable phone/email links.
- Accessible by defaultZero axe violations (WCAG 2.2 AA) on desktop and mobile, a skip link, visible focus, AA contrast and labelled controls.
- No page builder, no jQueryOne stylesheet inlined, one small script (~2 KB), self-hosted fonts. Built to port straight into a native block theme.

To confirm with the hotel
- Room categories (“Doubles & Twins”, “Superior Rooms”, “Suites”) and their one-line descriptions are drawn from guest reviews and the Offers page – please confirm names and details.
- “Book a table” links to the hotel’s OpenTable listing (restaurant ID 474903) – worth a test booking.
- Navigation and “read more” links point to pages on the current site; only the homepages have been redesigned at this stage.
